DIO's Parenting
People like to keep their wishful thinking about how because he had a terrible father, that would somehow make DIO want to be a good dad but that’s just.. not how things work. Also yes, the post about Araki saying DIO would adopt Giorno is fake.
Like, yes, DIO absolutely despised his father and I still think Dario’s treatment of him was largely the reason why DIO became such a megalomaniac, but also DIO is NOT a good person. He wouldn’t make an exception for his sons.
Kindness, trust, and love are not things that come naturally to DIO, as clearly shown with his feelings towards Pucci - someone who, if he were a normal person, DIO would probably consider his best friend and would trust him completely. But, while DIO says he trusts him and feels at peace with him, he’s actually constantly on edge regarding these things. He expects Pucci to betray him. He’s as peaceful as he could EVER be when he’s with Pucci, and even in that peace, he EXPECTS betrayal. He’s basically corrupted beyond repair.
I don’t think DIO and Giorno specifically could ever get along unless DIO was the one who raised him. Giorno has too much of his own beliefs, pride and resolve and he would not jam well with DIO’s. Giorno has a sense of justice and a certain amount of moral grounding, while DIO completely lacks that. DIO would’ve probably tried killing Giorno, as he would only be an obstacle.
The other three sons are a completely different story though; I’m of the belief that they would have MUCH better lives if they ever got to meet DIO. All three of them were practically lost souls looking for guidance, they felt like they had no purpose in life and that turned them all into very, very unhappy and broken people. If they were to meet DIO, he would give them the purpose that they desperately looked for - but of course, it wouldn’t be done out of fatherly love.
If DIO would raise his kids, then he would probably raise them to be loyal to a fault, much like Vanilla Ice and Johngalli A. He would probably make them think he loves them and that they are special to him, but he wouldn’t view them much differently than Vanilla Ice, who was his most loyal follower. You can tell that DIO has a certain level of care for Ice, but not enough to have any reaction to his death more than maybe a ‘well that’s a bummer’.
Now, because they would be of his own making, there is also the option that DIO would actually feel a certain level of pride for his kids, but it wouldn’t be parental pride, I’d say he’d view them more like successful experiments - a source of pride, but at the end of the day, replaceable if need be.
Basically, if DIO raised his kids, he’d keep them close, make them crave his approval, make them unyieldingly loyal, and make them unbelievably powerful. They would most likely have a sense of purpose, wouldn’t see their life as a bad one and would believe that DIO cares about them, much like his other minions.

Response to this question: Also i was thinking about Dio and his kids. I felt like if he ever raised them, using term loosely cause he is trash dad, he would do the whole ' favourite kid' thing and pit them against each other that way. Watching them strive for his attention or any scrap of 'affection' he gives. I wonder what benefits the current favored child might have besides title. Perhaps 1 on 1 time or just his words. I just wonder what the family dynamic would be with him and let's say three kids and leave out Gio
I think this will be the last I’ll say on the topic of DIO’s kids for a while, because it really pushes me into speculation and I don’t vibe with that. While I think I can make a decent assessment of how DIO would potentially view them, fact of the matter is that we just can’t know for sure because we’ve never seen that side of DIO. All I can do is speculate based on my observations of the DIO that we do get to see, and by trying to understand his thought process.
Okay, so regarding your thoughts; I have to disagree.
Pitting them against each other would make their main objective being better than the other, as opposed to serving DIO. It wouldn’t be true loyalty, it would be a competition. DIO’s minions are not shown to be competitive for his approval, and I believe he probably wouldn’t treat his sons much differently than his minions. I already talked about this, but I could see him maybe treating them similarly to, or a bit better than Vanilla Ice.
I also don’t think that 1 on 1 time is something DIO would keep as a special reward, since he literally gives Hol Horse of all people the time of his day just to scare the shit out of him and then tell him to fuck off and do his job lmao
Anyway, here is what DIO says about the stand Survivor;

DIO would not want any internal conflict in his cult whatsoever.
There would be no perk to making the sons compete among each other when you can just make all three of them blindly loyal to you.
People seem to imagine DIO as a father being either way too sinister or way too cutesy when like… there would probably be no family dynamic. His children would likely just be more people that he could use.
As I wrote in my previous topic on DIO’s children; Maybe because he was the one who made them, he’d have a certain level of pride for them, but it would be more akin to the pride you’d feel towards a successful experiment.
I always had the impression that DIO treats his minions more or less equally with Pucci being the sole exception because he’s integral to DIO’s grand plan. He specifically doesn’t want competition in his ranks and he makes all his minions believe that he truly cares for them.
It’s likely that his sons would have a higher position than other minions (working closely with him, like Vanilla Ice and Enya), but I wouldn’t expect more than that.
He might keep a closer eye on them just to make sure that they specifically don’t betray him in case those Jonathan genes kick in or something.
