The use of Emerald Splash
“Why does Kakyoin keep using Emerald Splash when he has the much more useful ability to possess people?”
aka, people not understanding Kakyoin’s fighting style.

- Using possession would be much harder against a stand user who could actually see and feel Hierophant, as opposed to a normal person. They also have the ability to hurt Hierophant, unlike a school nurse.
- He DOES use the possession ability again in the fight with Death 13
- Emerald Splash is ALMOST NEVER used as the main power, and ALMOST ALWAYS as a distraction. It’s a flashy ability that Kakyoin uses to trick his enemies into believing that it’s his main ability.
- Kakyoin’s most prominent use of Hierophant is through stealth attacks. He fights Tower of Grey, Death 13, and Lovers by ambushing them with Hierophant’s tentacles while they were distracted by Emerald Splash, thinking that that was Kakyoin’s main attack.
- Even when using Emerald Splash against DIO during the car chase, it wasn’t an attempt to actually hurt DIO as much as it was a way to make him summon his stand, so that Kakyoin could judge its range and power.
- He used Emerald Splash to push Polnareff out of the way and save him from the Hanged Man
- His 20-Meter-Radius Emerald Splash was an excellent and severely underrated trap that could probably take down almost anyone except DIO, who has the major over-powered advantage of stopping time. It also relied heavily on stealth - Kakyoin’s primary form of attack.
- “No one can deflect the Emerald Splash” was a mistranslation. The original line was more akin to “He just deflected Emerald Splash” - a reasonable mid-battle shock when an enemy deflects your attack.
- Why don’t people pay attention
- Do you even watch/read Jojo
- Like seriously you are on the level of the minor villains who thought that Emerald Splash was Kakyoin’s main attack
